Albert's Ride / Scratch Track Fri, Jan 20th _ 8:30PM
Scratch Track Bio: Some might label it acoustic hip-hop soul, others could call it a deft blend of beats and unplugged instrumentation, The Chicago Sun Times christened the band a slick cross section between Digable Planets and Jack Johnson, while On Tap attempted to identity them as Outkast or the Neptunesthrow in a guitar and more beat boxing, and you might come close. But no matter what adjectives are put in place, Tennessee-bred/Kansas City-based Scratch Track is an anomaly to the most ambitiously extreme degrees, that is perhaps best left to the words of a New York University reporter who praised the pair as mind-bending, style-bending and undeniably original. -- Click the "Hear it Now! Button for more about Scratch Track!
Albert's Ride: "Mind expanding energy transfers expressed by the creative force." "All Original Cornfed Trippified Funky Ass Hard Hitting Rock and Roll" -- Learn more about Albert's Ride on their Facebook page.
Dan Eilers & Friends / Eric Petit & Tim Buhmeyer Sat, Jan 21st _ 8:00PM
Dan Eilers, a Burlington, Iowa native, is not only an entertainer, but also teaches guitar lessons and operates Musicians Pro Shop and School, 135 S. Randolph St.
Eilers picked up his first guitar in 1964, when he was 15-years-old. Having enjoyed music for a while, Eilers said it was the Beatles that made him want to begin taking lessons, but only for a while.
I didnt catch on particularly wellreading music or counting of the music, said Eilers. If I heard the song I could play it, but as far as reading music, I couldnt do it.
Eilers said it wasnt until he began practicing Chuck Berry licks with the lead guitarist from a local Burlington band called Terry and the Tempests that he began loving the guitar. Aside from his first few lessons, Eilers said he never had any formal training and learned most of what he knows from playing with other musicians.
Pat Travers Band Postponed to March 23rd_ 7:30PM, Show _ 8PM
It's early 1979, and the Pat Travers Band have just been introduced and subsequently recorded for what would become one of the slickest and hottest guitar-rock albums ever committed to vinyl. 'Live! Go for What You Know"'was a huge success on both sides of the pond, acclaimed by their musical peers, fans, and music critics alike. It was high-energy. It was electric. It was lightning in a bottle. The album, much like the Canadian musician himself, remains an influence for a whole generation of guitar slingers.
The band in question - Pat Travers, guitarist Pat Thrall, drummer Tommy Aldridge and bass player Peter Mars Cowling - were unarguably one of the most talented rock quartets ever to perform. They were also responsible for a pair of bona fide studio classics - their 1978 guitar rock debut 'Heat in the Street', and 1980's more musically diverse and critically acclaimed 'Crash and Burn'. 'Go for What You Know' was the musical meat in that sonic sandwich.
Thrall's fusion was the perfect foil for Travers, who has always put the melodic tone and 'feel' of his solos before any fret burning. Aldridge was one of the most noted and flamboyant sticksmen of the era. Cowling was the inspiration, driving the rhythm through his ever solid, yet extremely flexible, four-string work
Toronto born Patrick Henry Travers had already delivered a tasty trio of releases before the formation of that formidable four-piece, and would go on to deliver classy melodic eighties rock before a blues period in the nineties, but it's that famous foursome that set standards, kicked your ass, and made such a musical mark.

William Elliott Whitmore & David Zollo Fri, Feb 24th Doors Open _ 7:30PM
Hailing from a horse farm along the banks of the mighty Mississippi River, William Elliott Whitmore has developed an intense love and spiritual understanding of the land, which he flawlessly conveys through all of his records. The War I Survived (from Ottumwa) Tue, Nov 8th _ 8:30PM
The War I Survived is the culmination of all the experiences shared by three gentlemen from the Midwest. Within a wide spectrum of influences, and many years to refine their elements, they've achieved the sound that started in young minds, but later evolved into a mature, full grown band of rock. When the music you make, finally catches up with the sound in your head, and that experience is shared by three people that were put on this planet to make music together, a rare gem is formed. Songs that engage, and inspire the listener, backed by a moving, incendiary live experience. Something that will leave you with a new sense of appreciation for things that have been done for years, generations in fact. The power of rock to alter the course of your life. That is The War I Survived.
Terry Quiett Band Fri, Nov 11th _ 8:30PM
Terry Quiett explodes every power trio cliché by cutting a broad swath of striking original material from haunting Delta blues and sophisticated jazzy swing to chesty rock featuring his flawless guitar technique and deeply soulful vocals. Emerging from the rural plains of Kansas and evolving in the last decade from a solo acoustic singer/songwriter to lead the band of bassist Aaron Underwood and drummer Rodney Baker since 2006, Quiett has a commanding presence onstage and in the studio. His latest release Just My Luck, produced by the legendary Jim Gaines and augmented with keyboardists Rick Steff and Beau Jarvis, is a modern masterpiece of highly charged, blues-based music.
Beaker Brothers Sat, Nov 12th _ 8:30PM
"The Beaker Brothers Band isn't a nostalgia act or a tribute show. We're playing music that has been in our heads and our hearts since we first heard it. It's music of the night from Back in the Day, played by guys who are as awed by it now as when we were driving home from a gig in 1969 and suddenly pulled off the road on a hilltop 'cause Clyde was blowing our minds again, and we couldn't get the signal down in the valley."
The Washington is in Burlington's Historic Downtown area, just blocks from the banks of the Mighty Mississippi River and many fine dining establishments.
Enjoy dinner at Bistro 322, La Tavola, The Drake, or Martinis (just to name a few) then head to The Washington for Live Entertainment and drinks.

Meet David; the proud owner of The Washington.
"Music moves me," says David, as he thinks back on a life enveloped in the art of music. He opened his first music club in 1997 called The BlueShop.
David recalls, "The BlueShop was a perfect opportunity to begin my dream of music presentation in a city along the Mississippi River; Burlington, Iowa."
Top notch Blues musicians would grace the stage throughout it's time, but in 2002 David saw an opportunity worth taking. An old social club that had been vacant for twenty years was soon to be auctioned off.
However, "At the advice of my wife, Dawn," David says, "I did not even go to the auction. We had just been married in September and in no way were we going to plunge into developing this."
Out of the three parcels of land, only one parcel actually sold. The one without a structure. The Washington's building didn't sell. It was a sign.
May 8th, 2003, a much more publicized auction was taking place. Approximately 40 people showed for the sale. They presented the dilapidated Elks building to the sale block. No one was bidding.
"I then shout “'One dollar'! No one says anything more." As David and Dawn walked back to sign the paperwork, she handed him 50 cents to split the cost.
David worked for five years on The Washington before deciding it was time to open the doors. It would be a music venue with a much wider scope than the BlueShop. This was a place for fans any genre to enjoy music.
When choosing the new club's name, one kept rising to the surface: The Washington. "Names like Decogroove, Inn the Groove, or River Max were bounced around, but we always came back to “The Washington”. We bought the building for one George Washington bill; it's on Washington Street; I grew up in Washington Iowa; Dawn went to Washington Elementary; and she gave me two George Washington quarters to split it. It chose itself." Along with all of the connections, the name truly represents freedom in America. "Music is an expression that embodies that," says David.
On August 27th, 2008, Coco Montoya was the first musical event. With a solid crowd and everyone enjoying themselves and the bar abuzz, the new club was ready to roll.
Today, David comments, "whether it is a National Blues artist or a local singer songwriter just starting out, we love what we do. We present music."
